The shortest way to Poland >>>
In the end of September 1941 General Władysław Sikorski, then prime minister of the Polish government in exile and the Supreme Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, inspected the parachute training of the Polish 4th Rifle Brigade deployed in Scotland. This brigade, which later was renamed the 1st Autonomous Airborne Brigade and took part in the battle of Arnhem (1944), adopted words "The Shortest Way" as its motto.
